Teeth Whitening Process

  • The Opalescence teeth bleaching process is simple and comfortable for our patients. It will look something like this:

    1. Dental review: We will give you an oral exam to make sure your teeth and gums are healthy enough to receive whitening treatment and determine the best teeth whitening option for you.
    2. Preparation: For an in-office treatment, Dr. Butler will directly place the whitening gel onto your teeth in 20-minute increments while professionally monitoring your smile’s progress. For a take-home treatment, we’ll create customized dental trays for you to add the gel into so you can whiten teeth at home.
    3. Aftercare: Our team will train you on the best ways to maintain your white smile. We suggest avoiding acidic or dark-colored foods and scheduling regular dental cleanings.

Opalescence Teeth Whitening

Opalescence teeth whitening is a reliable process that can be finished quickly and lasts for months. For an in-office whitening session, you’ll be able to come to our office and leave an hour later with a beautifully white smile. For take-home treatments, the gel will gradually whiten your teeth over several treatments but will be just as long-lasting.

Professional Supervision

Over-the-counter products don’t have the skills or guidance of a professional. Our office highly encourages our patients to rely on the assistance of professionals during the teeth whitening process. Professional teeth whitening helps your teeth achieve the natural-white look you are looking for and reduces any possible health risks.

Long-Lasting Results

The numbers speak for themselves.

On average, patients who use over-the-counter products tend to only retain their white smiles for about four months (depending on the product used).

On the other hand, professional teeth whitening can last up to three years—depending on proper oral care. Professional teeth whitening saves you time and money in the long run!

Quick Effectiveness

Sometimes over-the-counter whitening products take months for the whitening to take effect. Our office understands that you have a busy schedule. The Opalescence whitening method is built to be as fast as possible; many patients leave the dentist’s office with the whitened teeth they need! You deserve to spend less time cleaning your teeth and more time smiling!

Professional Teeth Whitening vs. Over-the-Counter Products

You’ve probably seen dental whitening products at your local grocery or department store. Though these whitening products may seem convenient, they come with some caveats.

Who Is Eligible for Teeth Whitening?

Dr. Butler will typically recommend teeth bleaching for those who are dealing with darkened or stained teeth. We are unable to whiten teeth for those who are:

  • Using Replacement Teeth: Common tooth prosthetics such as dental crowns or veneers often warp with dental whitening treatment.
  • Experiencing Gum Disease: Dr. Butler will make sure that you have a clean oral history before whitening your teeth to minimize any potential complications.
  • Dealing with Tooth Sensitivity: To help our patients feel as comfortable and pain-free in dentistry as possible, we usually don’t whiten teeth for sensitive patients.
